71) The Vatnajokull glacier is the second largest ice mass on the planet. Here we stand at it's northern edge.

73) We continue to the east: towards the green coast. 74) An oasis (Hvannalindir) in the dessert by road

76) Cross an other river. This was an easy one (some are mortal dangerous!)

80) The eclipse of August 11th 1999 was 60 % here. Not
good visiable on this photo.
81) End of the highland section after 22 days
survival: a double rainbow for the survivors! 82) Rene peels potato's. We have 2 weeks left before
our ferry leaves. . 83) We hitchhike to Skaftafell (we send the bikes as parcels by 'Landflugliniar' parcel service) and ride back in 2 weeks to Seydisfjordur.

87) Jolanda showers under Svartifoss 88) The glacier lake Jokulsarlon: the
ice floats to the sea. The opening scene of the James
Bond movie 'A view to a kill" was made here.

From 700 meter to 0 meter. 94) Horses wake us in the early moning.
We send them away (they suck on everything) 95) Our ferry back to Denmark on 02
september 1999 96) Goodbye beautifull and wild Iceland
with it's villiage like athmosphere and safety. Here we
leave Seysisfjordur fjord (Movie star Orca Willy, from
"Free Willy", was dumped here after the movie.
He can not adapt to live in the wild again and is now
very lonely). 97) A short stop in Thorshaven on
Faeröer islands 98) Back on European mainland soil in
Hanstholm (Denmark). What is all this green stuff? (A:
plants) 99) Ribe: Denmarks oldest town 100) Denmarks Jutland offers great
camping. here is an old sand pit. 101) Cozy campfire in the evenings
(it's dark again at night) 102) Pretty coastal forrests in
Denmark. 103) We camped at there German farmers
Ullrich and Helena on our way up: we stop again on our
way down. We give us a very warm welcome again. Danke
schon! 104) A 75 year old ferry in rural
Germany (hard to find a backcountry road here) 105) Almost home. Autumn in Edam (from the round cheeses). It's perfect September weather. A perfect journey comes to an end
tomorrow. 106) Alive!!!! Home at Jolanda's mother, Cora. After 5.800 KM. Here we will live for a while. This was a wild and exciting rough
bicycle tour that I loved to share with you.
